The Lord sustains them on their sickbed, and restores them from their bed of illness. Psalm 41:3
People let me tell ya 'bout my best friend! Boy , I often dote on this dude because he is the bestest uncle a chick could have. He is a living testimony and a walking miracle. His story is not mine to tell, but I can share how God honored my prayers that literally saved his life.
He was staying with me and my daughter in our small two bedroom apartment. He had been sick as a dog for over a week. We thought it was some sort of flu or stomach virus, that just wouldn't get right. He got progressively worse and it began to look like death was standing at his bedside.
I come in peace.
Oh, no you don't!
He refused my repeated attempts to take him to the hospital, but just as I was leaving out for work, something in my spirit wasn't right. As I reached for the door knob, my spirit was like, “hold up!”, and I did.
I went back to him and demanded that he go and he’d go at that very moment. I wasn't thinking on niece and uncle terms, I was thinking about life and death. I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful, but enough was enough.
The ER was overcrowded and had no rooms, but they took him back right away and made him a space in the hallway. After numerous docs checked him out, they left us sitting there, waiting. Fluids had backed up in my uncle’s body, leaving him with about 90% hearing loss. The doc convened in the room on the other side of the wall where we were sitting and discussed his case with his colleague. I’ll never forget what I heard as they discussed their findings and his prognosis,
I can’t explain how this man is alive. He’s a nice gentleman and I hate that we can’t help him. He needs to be airlifted immediately because there is nothing we can do here. If he makes it through the night…
WHAT YOU TALKING 'BOUT WILLIS!
I looked at my uncle and he looked at me with this weak smirk on his face, Poor thing, he couldn’t hear one word they said, but I did. My heart fell, but instantly, I went into faith mode and began to pray for God to heal him and save his very life. I called my mom, to let her know that he was being airlifted to a more advanced hospital, but I didn’t tell her what I heard. I couldn't. I needed to keep my faith at a certain level and not be influenced by worry, doubt, or fear – all normal reactions at a time like this.
She passed the message throughout the family and I stayed with my uncle until he was taken to a downtown hospital. The doctors came back and told him what the findings were and the steps that needed to be taken. The road ahead was going to be tough. He was sick.
Fast forward to today, eleven years later and he doesn’t look like what he has been through! He doesn’t smell like smoke from the fire he stood in (Psalm 41:3). He his healed.
I know there is a God!
He answers prayer and responds to faith (James 2:20).
Truly, there was a divine manifestation that took place the day the doctors said my uncle was going to die. That day, they couldn't explain why he was still laughing, smiling, and living. The same day, God heard a prayer. He heard my prayer and answered it. You can't tell me any different. Nope, don't even try!
People, let me tell you 'bout my best friend! He's a living, walking, talking miracle!
